Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument
The Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument is situated at the crossroads of the Cascade, Klamath, and Siskiyou mountain ranges, and represents an outstanding ecological wonderland. This convergence of three geologically distinct mountain ranges has resulted in an area with unparalleled biological diversity and a tremendously varied landscape. The Monument was established in 2000 in recognition of its remarkable ecology and to protect its diverse range of biological, geological, aquatic, archeological, and historic resources.
Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument is home to a wide variety of animals including deer, bears, mountain lions, small mammals and songbirds. Eagles and other raptors are also a draw for birdwatchers. Hiking, wildlife viewing, fishing, hunting, scenic drives, skiing, snowmobiling and sledding are popular activities at Cascade-Siskiyou. The elevation ranges from 2,100 to 6,100 feet.
- Motorized Travel
-
Motorized and mechanized vehicles are allowed on all open roads in the Monument. Signs designate where motorized and mechanized vehicles are not allowed on roads that are closed. Vehicles in this classification include Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs), motorcycles, game carriers, all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles, bicycles, and tractors. If you are unsure, check with the Medford District Office at 541-618-2200 for roads that are designated as open to the public for motorized access.
OHVs are allowed on open roads in the Monument, but not on any closed roads as described above. All OHVs used on public lands in Oregon require a State of Oregon ATV Operating Permit.

- Volunteering
-
On behalf of the staff of Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument, welcome to the team! Volunteers play an important role at Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument is a hidden jewel within the National Conservation Landscape System managed by the Bureau of Land Management. As a volunteer, you help us not only preserve this special place, but you also share it with visitors from around the world.
Volunteers are typically matched to positions or projects that are similar to their knowledge, skill and abilities. More often than not, volunteers engage in opportunities that help develop special skills or help explore special interests. Volunteers are selected without regard to gender, race, age, disability or mental or physical challenge. Those under 18, however, usually serve as a member of a group, and must have written consent of a parent or guardian. Volunteers can work individually or as part of a group. Some volunteers work on a one-time or short-term project, while others serve under longer term agreements. Most Monument volunteers serve part-time, such as on weekends or during a certain season.
