Fourth Restoration Landscape film highlights Cosumnes Watershed fire and fuels reduction efforts
The sun sets over the Cosumnes River in California in this still from the latest Restoration Landscapes video.
Changing conditions are causing more intense wildfires than the same landscapes saw a century or two ago. And the Bureau of Land Management is on it.
BLM works with many partners to reduce risks associated with potential wildfires and improve the environment while they do so. California's Consumnes Watershed is a great example. In this video, you'll see how addressing fire risk is also reducing the amount of sediment that ends up in the river and restoring the landscape.
Fire crews ignited a prescribed burn in the Cosumnes River Preserve in 2021. BLM and its partners are using prescribed burns throughout the Cosumnes River watershed in an effort to reduce both the danger and intensity of wildfires. (Photo by Benjamin Cossel)
