At the Missouri University of Science and Technology’s (Missouri S&T) fall career fair on September 22, 2026, BLM staff from the Northeastern States District engaged with students to recruit the next generation of public land stewards.

In August, volunteers from Backcountry Hunters & Anglers collaborated with the Bureau of Land Management Rawlins Field Office to remove one mile of obsolete fencing from the Sullivan grazing allotment in the Shirley Basin, improving wildlife movement and habitat while recycling over 3,000 pounds of steel fencing, with plans for further removals and ongoing partnerships to benefit public lands and wildlife such as mule deer, elk, pronghorn, and sage-grouse.

The U.S. Forest Service hosted the fifth annual event at Triangle Park with help from the BLM and other partners. This was the Kemmerer Field Office’s fourth year participating. Staff brought two tents and two tables filled with local wildlife specimens, fossils and objects that children could examine up close.

National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is largely supported across the United States as a cornerstone celebration centered around volunteerism, outdoor recreation, access, and environmental stewardship.

Nearly 50 volunteers, partners and riders spent National Public Lands Day turning trail talk into teamwork and community pride into on‑the‑ground stewardship.
