Campbell Creek Science Center

Ignite Your Natural Curiosity

Located in Anchorage, Alaska, the Campbell Creek Science Center (CCSC) engages all learners in outdoor experiences that increase appreciation, connection, and stewardship of Alaska’s public lands and natural resources.

The Campbell Creek Science Center campus sits on the BLM Campbell Tract, a 730-acre parcel of public land with diverse habitats, wildlife, native vegetation, and 12 miles of public recreational trails.

Our talented and enthusiastic staff offer year-round programs, including guided hikes, educational field trips, special events, scientific lectures, and workshops.

Just like the seasons, activities are always changing at CCSC. Visit our activity calendar to learn about upcoming programs and events or email us at sciencecenter@blm.gov to sign up for our monthly Field Notes newsletter.

Bear and Moose Safety

Though it is on the edge of the city, Campbell Tract is still quite wild. Be wildlife safe and bear aware. Salmon runs bring brown bears to the creek from June – October.

Use caution when visiting the creek in the summer, and practice bear aware techniques:

  • travel in groups,

  • make noise,

  • carry bear spray!

Visit the Alaska Department of Fish and Game "Living with Bears" webpage for more information.
