Reasonable Accommodation
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is committed to full compliance with the reasonable accommodation requirements of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. Under that law, the BLM will provide reasonable accommodation to qualified applicants and employees with disabilities, unless to do so would cause undue hardship or result in a direct threat to the health or safety of an individual, their co-workers, or other individuals in the Agency.
The provision of reasonable accommodations ensures that individuals with disabilities face no barriers that prevent them from applying for positions; performing the essential functions of the job or activity; enjoying equal benefits and privileges of employment; as well as enjoying full access to all programs, facilities, or activities that are conducted by, or for the Agency or any of it components.
The Bureau of Land Management follows Department of Interior guidance for processing Reasonable Accommodation requests.
