Get Involved
At Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, citizen scientists can participate in the scientific process, formulate research questions, conduct scientific experiments, collect, and analyze data, interpret results, make new discoveries, develop technologies and applications, and solve complex problems. All skill levels are welcome, and volunteers may work in the field or remotely.
Save the Date! We are pleased to be part of the 4th annual symposium on the Grand Staircase-Escalante Region, planned for March 20-22, 2025. Details will be posted here when finalized. Meanwhile, please visit the Escalante River Watershed Partnership to learn more.

Special Recreation Permits
Local outfitters, guides, and other businesses play a large role in helping the BLM serve local communities and visitors. The BLM uses Special Recreation Permits to manage commercial recreation and organized group activities on public lands, including competitive events. Please note that general recreation by individuals and families does not require a Special Recreation Permit. Please visit Paria River District SRP Application Guidance for information on applying for a Special Recreation Permit. A current list of outfitters and guides with approved Special Recreation Permits is also available.
