Wales Creek WSA
Values
The Wales Creek WSA contains four streams and is forested with stands of spruce, lodgepole pine, Douglas fir, and sub-alpine fir. The Wales Creek drainage has several thermal springs. The area provides habitat for moose, elk, deer, beaver, black bear, and mountain lion. Cutthroat trout inhabit Wales Creek. Recreation uses are primarily hunting and some primitive camping in conjunction with hunting. There are also opportunities for fishing and cross-country skiing.
Visitation
Wales Creek WSA is located in Powell County approximately 40 miles east of Missoula, Montana. From Montana Highway 200 take the road to Greenough. Continue on that road until it intersects with the Elk Creek Road. Drive the Elk Creek Road for approximately 8 miles, then turn at the Kennedy/Keno Creek Junction. Access to the WSA is from the Kennedy Creek Road (Road # 2817) and the Wales Creek Road.

Watch for standing dead trees as this WSA was heavily impacted by the Mountain Pine beetle.
