Subject:                             Spanish-Language Editions of Junior Ranger “Geology and Fossils” and “Native Plants” Activity Books:  Notice of Availability of Joven Guardaparques “Geología y fósiles” and “Plantas nativas”

We are pleased to announce the availability of Joven Guardaparques “Geología y fósiles” and “Plantas nativas,” Spanish-language editions of the BLM’s Junior Ranger “Geology and Fossils” and “Native Plants” children’s activity books, respectively.  Electronic files for the Spanish editions are attached.

The BLM Printed Materials Distribution Services (PMDS) will receive supplies of printed books in late September; at that time, staff may work with office Forms Managers to obtain up to 100 copies per order free of charge.  The PMDS item numbers will be EE2038A-S (“Geología y fósiles”) and EE2038C-S (“Plantas nativas”).

The BLM's Junior Ranger Program engages diverse young people (ages 7-12) and their families in recreation, learning, and stewardship on public lands to enhance awareness of the BLM's multiple-use, sustained yield mission.  Field staff may distribute Junior Ranger books when working with schools or youth organizations within the jurisdiction of the state or field office.  Visitor centers and other appropriate BLM education/interpretation venues may also maintain adequate supplies of books for young visitors.

The Division of Education, Interpretation, and Partnerships is grateful for 2017 Executive Order Program funding provided by the Washington Office Branch of Recruitment and Retention Programs to support the printing of Junior Ranger books for the BLM’s Spanish-speaking audiences.

For further information, please contact Derrick Baldwin, Acting BLM Education Program Lead, at dbaldwin@blm.gov or (970) 882-6805.
