In a wonderful display of community engagement, members of the El Centro Field Office returned to their alma mater, Calexico High School, to host a compelling BLM booth during the recent Resource Fair. This outreach event was significant for both staff and the local community.
“Ten of our BLM staff members are alumni from Calexico,” Damian Montano, BLM Park Ranger, said. “It was a privilege to return to our old high school and give back to our community.”
A remarkable 2,000 students attended the Resource Fair where 20 different agencies were present. The BLM booth drew a large crowd and made more than 500 contacts.
Staff shared knowledge about BLM careers in a lively and interactive manner. Activities included animal identification games with resources staff, trying on law enforcement's Kevlar vests and taking pictures with the restoration crew’s Can-Am.
The students gained valuable insights into potential career paths while experiencing firsthand the dynamic and impactful work carried out by the El Centro Field Office and the BLM.
