Record of the Week: Tombstone, Arizona

This week's interesting General Land Office record features a survey plat that displays the townsite of Tombstone, Arizona! Known as "the town too tough to die," Tombstone has gone through some rough patches but always prevailed. Notoriously known as the location where the gunfight at the O.K. Corral happened, Tombstone is one of the classic mining boom towns of the American frontier, and is a place where you come for the history but stay for the fun! Read more on ARC GIS Story Maps.

The GLO web site provides live access to Federal land conveyance records for the Public Land States, including image access to more than 12 million Federal land title records issued between 1788 and the present.

The site also hosts images of survey plats and field notes, land status records, and control document index records, and is the most visited website in the Department of the Interior. Visit glorecords.blm.gov for more information.
