Volunteers to make Elk Creek fences friendlier for Public Lands Day, Sept. 28
LEWISTOWN, Mont. – Celebrate National Public Lands Day by making fences near Grass Range, Montana, safer for migrating wildlife.
Volunteer with the Bureau of Land Management staff on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Elk Creek Rd, at coordinates 5903247.000960, -108.701586 (pindrop/map link -- https://google.com/maps?q=Elk%20Creek%20Road%20Grass%20Range%20MT%2059457%20US).
Participants will help remove a five-strand barbed-wire fence and replace it with BLM four-strand, wildlife-friendly, smooth-wire fence.
Participants should bring any needed personal food, drink and work gloves, and wear closed-toe, sturdy shoes and apparel suitable for the day’s weather conditions and work activity.
BLM planners hope to install up to a mile of wildlife-friendly fence during the NPLD event, depending on how many volunteers join in.
