Public input invited on the environmental review for Henry Mountains Fremont Gorge Travel Management Plan
RICHFIELD, Utah - The BLM Richfield Field Office is initiating a public comment period for the Travel Management Plan (TMP) for the Henry Mountain Fremont Gorge Travel Management Area. This process is designed to enable public review and feedback on the environmental analysis of the project. The comment period for the Henry Mountains Fremont Gorge TMP will be open from Sept. 25 to Oct. 26, 2024.
Upon completion, the plan would designate over 2,200 miles of routes across 1.45 million acres in the remote areas of Garfield and Wayne counties in southern Utah as OHV-Open, OHV-Limited, or OHV-Closed.
"Our goal is to create a Travel Management Plan that serves the community while protecting the unique landscape of the Henry Mountains Fremont Gorge" said Richfield Field Office Manager David Mortensen. “We rely on public feedback to ensure that the plan is both sustainable and reflective of local values.”
This public comment period follows the completion of a preliminary route inventory and alternatives review, with previous feedback already incorporated into the planning process. The public is encouraged to review the environmental analysis and provide feedback.
The BLM will host a virtual public meeting on Oct. 9, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will include a presentation on the travel management area, an overview of the planning process and alternatives, a demonstration on how to provide written comments, and an opportunity for questions. Please note that the BLM will not accept verbal comments. Registration can be completed through the following link: https://blm.zoomgov.com/webinar/register/WN_PDY6rzRdR7qB3YhU5QJesA.
The draft environmental analysis and other supporting documentation are available for public review on the BLM’s ePlanning website at EplanningUi (blm.gov).
