BLM seeks input on proposed New York Canyon gen-tie project
WINNEMUCCA, Nev. — The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment for the proposed New York Canyon gen-tie transmission line project across approximately 35 miles (21 of which are public lands) in Antelope Valley near Lovelock in Pershing County.
If approved, Ormat Technologies, Inc., could construct a wooden-monopole-type 120-kilovolt electrical transmission line and associated facilities to connect the proposed New York Canyon substation and adjacent geothermal powerplant to the NV Energy power grid through the Buffalo Mountain substation near Lovelock.
“The project is required to connect renewable energy produced by the proposed New York Canyon Geothermal Development Project into the power grid for distribution to retail customers,” said Humboldt River Field Office Manager C. John Mitchell.
Additional information, including the draft environmental assessment, is available at the BLM National NEPA Register, where comments may be submitted through the “Participate Now” option (preferred). Comments may also be emailed to [email protected] with “New York Canyon ROW” in the subject line, or delivered to: Attn.
