San Juan Islands Monument Advisory Committee to meet virtually Dec. 7

SPOKANE, Wash. – Bureau of Land Management officials are scheduled to hold a meeting of the San Juan Islands National Monument Advisory Committee via Zoom from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023. The public is welcome to attend.
Planned agenda items at the meeting include updates on the MAC and the BLM Spokane District.
“The San Juan Islands National Monument Advisory Committee is a gem for the islands and surrounding community,” said Steve Small, BLM Spokane District Manager. “We are so grateful for their dedication to the creation of the resource management plan, and we are excited to start the implementation process.”
There will be a comment period where the public may address the MAC starting at 12:30 p.m. The amount of time for individual oral comments may be limited depending on the number of people wishing to comment.
The 12-member MAC provides advice and recommendations to the BLM on resource and land management issues within the San Juan Islands National Monument. The MAC members are citizens who represent public land interests associated with the local area and who may also advise the Spokane BLM District Office.
