VERNAL, Utah — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Vernal Field Office (VFO) is planning to implement the Pariette Prescribed Fire in Uintah County during the last two weeks of October 2021 and the first two weeks of November (weather pending). The project is located in the southern part of Uintah County, six miles southwest of Ouray.

The Bureau of Land Management division of fire is looking to burn the southeast portion of Pariette Wetlands. This includes the River & Ute land units totaling up to 500 acres. This will be part of the annual burn schedule consisting of both spring and fall burns. These burns will help to keep the impoundments free of cattails and other vegetation, maintaining 50 percent or more open water for waterfowl.

We would like to inform the public that during ignition, parts of the wetlands will be closed to the public for safety.

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people.
