WINNEMUCCA, Nev.— The Humboldt River Field Office will partially reopen Water Canyon Recreation Area January 28, 2022. The lower section of road through the recreation area has melted off and is now safe for vehicles to travel.

“There will be a barrier chain up at sites 4 and 5 to keep people from going any further up the road as that is where the road conditions are the worst,” said Humboldt Field Office Manager, Kathleen Rehberg.

Water Canyon Recreation Area is located 5.2 miles southeast of Winnemucca, Nevada. For additional recreation area information go to https://www.blm.gov/visit/water-canyon-recreation-area.

Please continue to use caution if you are driving in the recreation area. For more information, please call 775-623-1567.
