LAS VEGAS - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) today released a draft Environmental Assessment and unsigned Finding of No Significant Impact analyzing Southwest Gas Corporation’s proposal to install 69.5 miles of new 24-inch diameter natural gas pipeline within an existing permanent right-of way. The comment period will end March 24, 2021.

The project’s starting point is at the Southwest Gas existing pressure limiting station near Laughlin and the proposed alignment runs parallel to existing natural gas pipeline roughly following the U.S. Route 95 west of Searchlight and ending at the existing pressure limiting station just south of Henderson.

The Southern Transmission System Replacement is expected to be constructed in three phases over the next five to 10 years and have an overall life of 30 years. The pipeline’s construction workforce would average 15-20 workers.

The following information would be the most useful type of comments:

  • Is there additional information, data or analysis which should be considered?
  • Is information, data or analysis incorrect or not thoroughly considered?

“We look forward to receiving public input on the Southern Transmission System Replacement as we continue to evaluate this project,” said BLM Las Vegas Field Office Manager Shonna Dooman.
