BLM Proposes a Direct Sale of Public Land in Clark County

Las Vegas – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Las Vegas Field Office, is seeking public comments on a proposal to sell one parcel, totaling 3.75 acres of public land in Clark County.  This non-competitive direct sale is in accordance with the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA) and associated Las Vegas Resource Management Plan and Record of Decision dated October 5, 1998.  A Notice of Realty Action published in yesterday’s Federal Register on, which opens a 45-day comment period that will close on July 17.  

The Tabernacle of Praise Church, Inc., a non-profit community church, has requested purchase of the parcel at fair market value as determined by an appraisal. From 1993 to 2012, the parcel was leased to the church by the BLM under the Recreation and Public Purposes Act.  The parcel is located on the corner of Buffalo Drive and Constantinople Avenue between Alexander Avenue and Cheyenne Avenue.

In accordance with SNPLMA, the funds generated by this sale will be used throughout Nevada for projects such as the development of parks, trails, and natural areas, capital improvements on Federal lands, acquisition of environmentally sensitive land, and landscape restoration projects.  Additionally, five percent of the revenue will go to the State of Nevada General Education Fund and 10 percent to the Southern Nevada Water Authority.
