BLM to offer 75 parcels in December oil and gas lease sale

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — In keeping with the Administration’s goal of strengthening America’s energy independence, the Bureau of Land Management will offer 75 parcels, totaling approximately 94,000 acres in Duchesne, Uintah and Emery counties at its December quarterly oil and gas lease sale. The BLM will hold the lease sale online at www.energynet.com.

Each lease, if issued, will contain stipulations and best management practices designed to address air quality and water resources while ensuring safe and environmentally responsible development. As part of leasing reform, the BLM may modify lease stipulations to accommodate site-specific resources.

The public may protest any of the parcels being offered in the sale until Oct. 2. Protests must be submitted to the BLM Utah State Office, 440 West 200 South, Suite 500, Salt Lake City, UT 84101or faxed to Sheri Wysong at (801) 539-4237. The environmental assessments, lists and maps of the parcels and the attached stipulations are online at https://www.blm.gov/programs/energy-and-minerals/oil-and-gas/leasing/regional-lease-sales/utah.

Oil and gas development on BLM-managed lands in Utah contributed $1.7 billion to the economy and supported 9,171 jobs in Fiscal Year 2016.
