SALT LAKE CITY – The Bureau of Land Management West Desert District will conduct a prescribed burn on public lands adjacent to the north and east sides of the Town of Terra in Tooele County between March 27 and April 12. Residents of Terra and the public may experience smoky conditions in the vicinity of the project area and the public is reminded to stay out of the burn area for the duration of the project.

The BLM has partnered with Tooele County and the Town of Terra to maintain and strengthen a fuel break established in 2004 to better protect the Terra community in the event of a wildfire. The BLM plans to burn a total of 120 piles of brush and trees removed from the fuel break over a 50-acre area. Ignition of the prescribed burn will be dependent on weather parameters and fire behavior conditions.

Fire Crews will be monitoring and securing the area after ignition operations have ceased to ensure any residual fire is extinguished.
