FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Bureau of Land Management is announcing public meetings and subsistence hearings in December to continue seeking input on the draft supplemental environmental impact statement (EIS) for the Ambler Road project proposed by the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA).

The draft supplemental EIS released in October is available for public review and comment until December 22, 2023. Consultation with Alaska Native Tribes and Corporations informed the supplemental analysis and BLM will continue to consult with Alaska Native Tribes and Corporations throughout the National Environmental Policy Act process.

The BLM has held public meetings in Fairbanks, Kotzebue, and five communities near the proposed industrial road route. The meetings feature a presentation about the analysis, opportunities for public comment, and a hearing considering potential impacts to subsistence resources and activities under Section 810 of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (ANILCA). The current meeting schedule for December is:

Dec. 06 | 7:00-9:00 p.m. | Ambler at the Ambler School
