The Battle Mountain District Bureau of Land Management is now selling Christmas tree permits for the 2021 Holiday Season.

Permits for personal use can be purchased over the phone from the Battle Mountain or Tonopah BLM offices, Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Christmas trees permits are for Pinyon Pines or Junipers and costs $4. The guidelines for permit use will be included with the permit paperwork. The cutting of Christmas Trees is permitted only with a permit anywhere on Battle Mountain BLM land except in Wilderness Study Areas.

Tree cutters should be prepared with warm clothing, first aid kit, extra food and water, heavy rope or chain, shovel and tire chains, in the event of bad road conditions or inclement weather. Some cutting areas may be inaccessible after snowfall, so it is advisable to cut trees early in the season.

In addition, while out cutting your Christmas tree, remember to have your permit, follow all cutting stipulations, and all recommended procedures to prevent wildfires. In addition, stay on existing roads, consult your maps to insure you are on BLM land, and please report any permit violations with as much information as possible (e.g., date, license plate number, detailed location, and directions to area) to the Battle Mountain District Office at (775) 635-4000.

To purchase permits or for more information, please call either the Battle Mountain District Office at (775) 635-4000 or call the Tonopah Field Office at (775) 482-7800.

For any information regarding other-than-personal use permits, please call one of the offices.
