Subject: Wilderness Characteristics Spatial Data Standard Revision
This information bulletin (IB) announces the availability of a newly revised Oregon/Washington (OR/WA) spatial data standard for Wilderness Characteristics (WILD_CHAR). The data standard defines how this type of data is to be captured in a Geographic Information System (GIS) geodatabase, defines attributes used, and defines coding schemes (domains). The significant change to the data standard with this revision is the addition of attributes GIS_ACRES, and BLM_ORG_CODE. In addition, this revision corrects the field length of UNIT_ID2 (from 30 to 15), changes the domain used by SUPPLEMENTAL (to dom_YN), makes that attribute optional, adds a section on editing guidelines and some minor editorial corrections.
This IB supersedes Instruction Memorandum IM-OR-2011-064 (which had expired). These changes were reviewed by the State Data Steward. No field office review was conducted since the changes are considered minor.
