Subject:Every Kid in a Park (EKIP) Pass, Now to Include Free Christmas tree Permits for interested Fourth Graders plus Nevada State Parks Free Access Sticker
Program Area:Youth and Sales of Forest Products, Christmas Trees
Purpose:

The White House initiative Every Kid in a Park (EKIP) program delivers a nationwide call to action to build the next generation of environmental stewards. The 4th Grade Pass allows every fourth grader free access to federal lands across the country for the year. In addition, Nevada State Parks has provided stickers for each District Office to place on the EKIP passes. The passes with stickers allow pass holders free admission to all Nevada State Parks.

Policy/Action:

As part of this initiative, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Nevada Offices will also provide a free Christmas tree permit to fourth graders who bring their EKIP Pass or Voucher to a BLM Nevada Office.

Field offices issuing free EKIP Christmas tree permits will track each tree tag permit number separately from normal Christmas tree sales. Each BLM Nevada Office will provide the Nevada Forestry Lead, Coreen Francis the completed spreadsheet with the number of permits issue under this initiative (see attachment l ).

District/Field Offices should accommodate EKIP Christmas Tree requests by issuing free tree permits to fourth graders who present a valid 4th EKIP voucher or pass. By supporting this program we will strengthen BLM's goal for connecting youth to the outdoors.
