Subject: BLM Alaska Radio Program Coordination

Program Area: Wireless Communications

Policy/Action: The BLM-Alaska Land Mobile Radio Program (LMRP) will adhere to the standards established in the BLM Radio Telecommunications Handbook 1292 and the associated Handbook 1292-1 through 1292-6. The following BLM-Alaska LMRP responsibilities are assigned to Kent Gale, Division of Fire and Aviation, Section Chief for Communications.

• BLM Alaska Point of Contact to the BLM National Radio Operations Branch
• Preparation and submission of all BLM Alaska Radio Frequency Authorizations (RFA’s)
• BLM Alaska Technical Representative on the Alaska Land Mobile Radio System (ALMR).
• BLM Alaska Tower Fall Protection Inspection Coordinator.
• BLM Alaska Tower Inspector.
• BLM Alaska Tower and Infrastructure Replacement Coordinator.

Timeframe: This IM is effective immediately.

Budget Impact: None

Background: Assignment of these responsibilities will insure compliance with the BLM Radio Telecommunications Handbook 1292 and provide for an effective, efficient and safe Land Mobile Radio Program in Alaska.
