Subject: Request for Nomination of “Heritage Heroes” in 2018 DD: 05/18/2018
The Division of Cultural and Paleontological Resource and Tribal Consultation (WO-240) is soliciting nominations for Heritage Heroes in 2018. Heritage Heroes may be BLM employees, volunteers or project partners who have provided significant support for the cultural heritage, history, paleontological resources, and tribal consultation or museum collections programs. By highlighting the outstanding work conducted by our Heritage Heroes, we can bring to life the stories that provide a model for preservation stewardship.
This Information Bulletin requests each state office to:
• Submit a minimum of 1 nominee; more nominations are welcome.
• Nominees may be individuals or groups who are employees of BLM, BLM volunteers, or members of partner organizations.
• The nomination should include up to 2 pages describing the contributions of the nominee(s) to the program. The nomination should also identify who is nominating this individual or group.
• At least 3 photographs must be provided, showing the nominees in action. Photographs must be good quality, and sufficient for BLM Daily publication and captioned. These photographs should be submitted separately from the nomination as jpgs.
Nominations and supporting documentation, including photographs, should be forwarded to WO-240, who will select and publicize the Heritage Heroes’ accomplishments. The BLM has many such heroes among our volunteers, partners, support staff and managers, as well as the BLM archaeologists, paleontologists and paleontological coordinators, tribal coordinators, and museum staff.
Please forward nomination(s) through the Deputy State Director for Resources in your state office to Dianna Junius, Management Program Analyst, WO-240, (djunius@blm.gov, 202-912-7208) no later than May 18, 2018. The budget impact will be minimal, requiring a modest amount of time to solicit and provide nominations. Winners will receive recognition and appreciation for their outstanding work. If you have questions, please contact Ranel Stephenson Capron, Federal Preservation Officer, at (202) 912-7241 or rcapron@blm.gov.
