Story and photos by William Wight, BLM Las Cruces District Office Public Affairs Specialist.
As part of the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) rangeland management program, heavy equipment operators from the Las Cruces District finished a two-week project of developing three dirt tanks (watering holes) for local cattle grazing on the land allotments and for the wildlife in the Wilderness Study Areas of the foothills of the Alamo Hueco Mountains in lower Hildago County.
This rangeland maintenance project not only enhanced or improved the livestock grazing management but improved watershed conditions.
