Mustang Champions and the BLM announce upcoming event in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 11-13, 2024
Presented by the Mustang Champions, BLM Wild Horse and Burro Program, and Western Horseman, the “Mustang Challenge” is the richest national western discipline mustang competition. The event will take place on July 11-13, 2024 at the South Point Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The total purse will be $125,000 with the Champion awarded $50,000.
The goal of The Mustang Challenge is to showcase the skill and adaptability of the American mustang and the talented trainers that work with them in the Western discipline. The event will provide the public an opportunity to witness a mustang that has been given a foundation for success on its journey from government holding to private ownership.
There will be preliminary classes on July 11-12 with the Mustang Challenge Championship Finals on Saturday, July 13, at 6:00 PM where $50,000 will be awarded to the Champion. The top 10 performing mustang and exhibitor pairs from the preliminary classes will be invited to compete in the championship finals to determine the Mustang Challenge Champion. The finals event is designed to encourage exhibitors to exhibit the athletic abilities of their mustang to the crowd in an exciting and appealing way. The exhibitors will incorporate props, costumes, and music to demonstrate their skills and the talents of their mustang.

About the Mustang Champions: Mustang Champions is a 501(c)(3) headquartered in Austin, Texas. Mustang Champions is dedicated to the adoption of mustangs that have been gathered and are currently in BLM holding. Working in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management Wild Horse and Burro Program, mustangs in holding will be transitioned into private care to lessen the burden of an abundance of animals, reduce the cost of care to the American taxpayer and help protect rangelands.
