BLM Lifts Big Grass Fire Temporary Closure in Owyhee County
BOISE, Idaho—The Bureau of Land Management's Owyhee and Bruneau Field Offices are lifting the closure order for BLM-administered lands in Owyhee County, southwestern Idaho, that was implemented due to the Big Grass Fire. Effective today, October 14, 2026, this area is now open to public access.
The temporary closure applied to all public lands within the perimeter of the Big Grass Fire, which burned nearly 580,000 acres. Although the area has reopened, the BLM reminds visitors to stay on designated roads and trails to protect public safety and prevent further disturbance to natural resources.
